What Is a Paldean Fates Booster Pack?

A Paldean Fates Booster Pack is a sealed Pokémon TCG pack from the Scarlet & Violet—Paldean Fates special expansion.

Unlike a standard Pokémon set, Paldean Fates is heavily focused on Shiny Pokémon. Pokémon describes the expansion as featuring more than 100 Shiny Pokémon, alongside Pokémon ex and other special cards.

The expansion launched on January 26, 2024. It was released through products such as Elite Trainer Boxes, tins, premium collections, and booster bundles.

One important detail for buyers is that Paldean Fates was not sold as individual standalone booster packs in the usual retail format. Pokémon specifically describes the six-pack Booster Bundle as a way to discover the set because the expansion is not sold in individual booster packs.

This means listings using the phrase “Paldean Fates Booster Pack” may refer to an individual pack removed from a larger sealed product.

Why Is Paldean Fates Popular?

Paldean Fates has a clear collecting theme: Shiny Pokémon.

Shiny Pokémon have different color variations from their standard designs. This makes them visually distinctive and popular with collectors.

The official expansion features more than 100 Shiny Pokémon, including Pokémon such as Pikachu, Tinkaton, Ceruledge, Dondozo, and others.

The set also includes Shiny Tera Pokémon ex.

Some of the major themes include:

• Shiny Pokémon
• Shiny Pokémon ex
• Tera Pokémon ex
• Full-art Supporter cards
• Hyper Rare cards
• Special Illustration Rare cards
• Paldean Pokémon
• Popular Pokémon such as Charizard and Mew

This gives collectors several different ways to build a Paldean Fates collection.

What Can You Pull From a Paldean Fates Booster Pack?

Opening a Paldean Fates pack gives you a random selection of cards from the expansion.

Because this is a special set, it has a strong focus on shiny and special-rarity cards.

Possible pulls include:

• Common Pokémon
• Uncommon Pokémon
• Rare Pokémon
• Holo Rare cards
• Shiny Pokémon
• Pokémon ex
• Shiny Pokémon ex
• Full-art Supporter cards
• Special Illustration Rare cards
• Hyper Rare cards
• Trainer cards
• Energy cards

The official Pokémon expansion page lists more than 240 cards in the set.

That large card pool gives collectors plenty of targets.

Paldean Fates Chase Cards

Paldean Fates has several cards that attract strong collector interest. The combination of Shiny artwork and popular Pokémon makes these cards especially recognizable.

Shiny Charizard ex

Shiny Charizard ex is one of the biggest attractions in Paldean Fates.

The card features Charizard as a Darkness-type Tera Pokémon ex with a different color scheme from the standard Charizard design.

Charizard has a long history as one of the most collected Pokémon, so its Shiny appearance gives the card another layer of appeal.

Pokémon specifically highlights Charizard ex among the Shiny Tera Pokémon ex featured in the expansion.

Shiny Mew ex

Shiny Mew ex is another standout card.

Mew is already one of the most recognizable Pokémon in the franchise. Paldean Fates gives it a Shiny appearance and Pokémon ex treatment.

The official Pokémon preview highlights Shiny Mew ex and its Genome Hacking attack, which can copy an attack from an opponent’s Active Pokémon.

For Mew collectors, this makes it an important card from the expansion.

Shiny Gardevoir ex

Gardevoir also receives a Shiny treatment in Paldean Fates.

The Shiny Gardevoir ex card features a blue color scheme that differs from its standard appearance. Pokémon’s official preview also highlights its Psychic Embrace Ability.

Gardevoir’s popularity across the Pokémon franchise makes this another attractive card for collectors.

Shiny Pikachu

Pikachu is one of the most recognizable Pokémon in the world, and Paldean Fates includes a Shiny version.

The official Pokémon expansion description specifically mentions Shiny Pikachu alongside more than 100 other Shiny Pokémon.

This gives Pikachu collectors another unique card to search for.

What Makes Shiny Pokémon Special?

Shiny Pokémon are alternate-color versions of regular Pokémon.

The difference may seem simple, but it creates a completely different look on a trading card.

For collectors, Shiny Pokémon offer a way to build a collection around color variations rather than just Pokémon species.

For example, a collector could focus on:

• Shiny Pikachu
• Shiny Charizard
• Shiny Mew
• Shiny Gardevoir
• Shiny Ditto
• Shiny Tinkaton
• Shiny Ceruledge
• Shiny Paldean Pokémon

Paldean Fates is particularly useful for this type of collection because the set contains more than 100 Shiny Pokémon.

Why Buy a Paldean Fates Booster Pack?

A Paldean Fates booster pack gives collectors a chance to discover cards from a set built around Shiny Pokémon.

It can be appealing for:

• Pokémon TCG collectors
• Shiny Pokémon fans
• Charizard collectors
• Mew collectors
• Pack-opening content
• Building a Paldean Fates collection
• Searching for rare cards
• Completing a Shiny Pokémon collection

The product also works well as a smaller entry point for someone who does not want to purchase an entire sealed collection.

However, remember that individual Paldean Fates booster packs were not sold as the standard standalone retail format. Pokémon offered booster packs through products such as the six-pack Booster Bundle and other collections.

Paldean Fates Booster Pack vs. Booster Bundle

These terms are worth understanding before buying.

Product	Main Feature
Individual Booster Pack	One Paldean Fates booster
Booster Bundle	Six Paldean Fates booster packs
Elite Trainer Box	Booster packs plus accessories
Tin	Booster packs plus promo card
Premium Collection	Booster packs plus promo cards and accessories
Individual Card	A specific card without opening packs

The Booster Bundle is particularly important because Pokémon states that Paldean Fates was not sold in individual booster packs.

If you see an individual Paldean Fates booster pack for sale, it may have been removed from one of these larger products.

How to Buy a Paldean Fates Booster Pack

Because individual packs are commonly separated from larger products, check the seller and product details carefully.

Before purchasing, look at:

• Seller reputation
• Clear photographs
• Pack condition
• Product description
• Whether the pack came from a legitimate sealed product
• Return policy
• Current market price

If you want a factory-sealed Paldean Fates product, a Booster Bundle, Elite Trainer Box, tin, or another sealed collection may provide a clearer purchasing option.

Avoid assuming that an expensive individual pack is automatically more authentic.

Should You Open or Keep It Sealed?

The decision depends on your collecting goals.

Opening the pack gives you the excitement of discovering a Shiny Pokémon or another rare card.

Keeping a larger sealed Paldean Fates product unopened preserves its original packaging and presentation.

Open it if you:

• Enjoy Pokémon pack openings.
• Want to hunt for Shiny Pokémon.
• Collect individual cards.
• Are building a Paldean Fates set.
• Create Pokémon TCG content.

Keep it sealed if you:

• Collect sealed Pokémon products.
• Like original packaging.
• Want to display your collection.
• Prefer sealed Scarlet & Violet products.

For individual packs removed from larger products, the sealed-collection appeal is different from that of a factory-sealed Booster Bundle or Elite Trainer Box.
